"We feel safe"
On this episode I have a sit down with my bonus daughter Becca who is 16 but I love the picture above.
I was doing a podcast from the car but well the weather started to get nasty and wanted to be safe. OK I guess the last show where the road was not visible was an issue for my friend Scott.
With the events in Florida I wanted to get a Teenagers view. For the record there was laughing but it was because Becca was nervous when I was asking her about gun control.
We also talk about what parents should do when they are teaching teen's how to drive.
Anywho it was nice to have some fun with Becca and listen to a point of view from a teenager.

How are you dealing with personal finances?
There are times when you want to say yes to your kids but then reality sets in and you HAVE to say NO.
Not having a solid footing when it comes to your finances can stress you out. At the same time what are you doing to help teach your kids about money?
Even if you are not a parent what App do you use to keep track of your spending?
In the past we have used Mint but currently we find the Dave Ramsey website very useful.
What processes have you used to help your kids when it comes to saving money? On this episode I talk about the binder that the kids used.

My insecurity is going to be a theme here but I have credibility but do not call me an expert.
After listing to a couple of very popular podcast I felt that you needed to know some of my back story. The reason is that one of the podcast host told “us” the audience of what made him credible.
Personally I do not like to talk about my accomplishments but my insecurity was yelling. I do not like to be yelled at. Do you?
This episode is going to take you on how we got here and what I mean here is doing podcasting.
You will learn some of the incredible things I have done that not many people know because I do not like to talk about myself.
Honestly if you go to the Blending The Family website you will see one of my talks or read a blog but maybe I need to explain myself more on this specific episode.
Thank you for listening.

When was the last time you wrote a letter to your kids?
On this episode I talk about what this tip means to me and how can you create memories of the writen word.
My habit was when I was traveling for work, the first stop after the plane landed for me was the gift shop to pick up postcards to send to my son Connor.
He was just learning how to read and this was my way of to encourage him to read my poor hand writing.
Today I write notes to my family and personally have a couple of journals.
Write a note and place it in yours kids lunch bag or their back packs. They will be surprised.

TAKE ACTION!!
We had a busy weekend as well still thinking happy thoughts of one family member who has a broken leg.
I recap our weekend but also wanted to talk about being inspired by a new friend of mine.
Johnny Nomad has been on the podcast. He has been also doing live video on Instagram during the week as he is driving to his day job.
Recently he spoke about taking action. For example if you hate your job then go get a new one, take action.
Not in a happy place then take action to find that place.
There are ideas that I want to execute no matter if the idea sucks at least I took action.
As parents we need to be positive role models. How as a parent do you take action?
What new action steps are you going to take?
Please let me know.

2018 is becoming a theme for me about co-parenting and taking the high road. I FU$KING HATE taking the high road.
I keep thinking about how coparenting and needing to be better at taking the high road is becoming a BAD habit
Please enjoy and if yoo have thoughts on this in your own world please let me know.

“What is the most important thing that you hope your readers will get from your book?”
Welcome to 2011. While looking for something in the home office closet I found a CD. This CD had a recorded interview from 2011 with book publishing coach Flora Brown.
Her and I had connected back then on Linked In. My thought is that I do not ever remember sharing this interview other then the only social media that I was on and that was Linked In.
The discussion was focused around my first book “25 Tips for Divorced Dads” and towards the end you will hear about our “Ten Tips On How To Survive Your Parents Divorce” that Becca (bonus daughter) and Connor (my son) were working on.
While listening to this interview I was reminded that there was another book in me. That book was to be based on my experience as a stay at home dad. I’d better get working on that.
Personally and professionally after listening to the interview I felt that yes I was onto something but somehow got sidetracked. What I mean is that I should of built a successful business by now. It is not to late.
I feel that there needs to be more clarification about something early in the interview. My dad is one of the greatest people you will meet. I know at times he is painted as a bad dad but he was not. He wanted to be a single guy not a family guy and I totally respect him for trying to be a husband and father. As I did mention that he is not only a fantastic grandfather but the first time he met Betsy and Becca (my two bonus daughters) they were treated as if he was their grandfather. Dad I love you.

Ladies when you are picking up a baby shower gift, think of the dad’s too.
My wife Ann and I went to Target because Ann needed to buy a gift for a friend who is having a baby. Ann bought a diaper bag as the gift.
While walking out of the store I had a “AH HA” moment as I was carrying the new bag. My thought was why is that when buying a baby shower gift the notion is to solely think of the mom?
Maybe it is just me but, the gift purchaser should think of the dad too.
There was a very cool backpack that was in the diaper bag section and that is what I thought would be a better choice as far as diaper bags.
OK is this me being a dude?
