When I meditate this is the vision I keep inside my head so my monkey mind stays focused. This is also the image I used all this week before going under anesthesia.

This week I had already planned to be off because my wife and I were to see Jeff Dunham. He was so funny. I know that his niche is the puppets but he is a great story teller.

What was to be a week off of really nothing turned into taking care of a few medical issues.

On this episode I will walk you through the week including why both men and women need to get away from their fear of getting a colonoscopy.

Yes it can be a bit humiliating but it is a necessary evil. Not only did I do the colonoscopy but I also had (same day) an endoscopy. That means a scope down the esophagus.

No they did not use just one scope, well that is what the doctor told me. I will let that all sink into your mind.

Then the other procedure was to have the oil that is in my right eye taken out. Back in November I had to have eye surgery to fix a detached retina. After five months it was time to take out the oil.

In my view I am a physical mess: I am over weight.

With the colonoscopy I feel like it is a bit of a clean slate, a flushing of the soul (yes bathroom humor there).

As a dad I want to be around for many years and taking care of one self is part of being a parent.

I hope you enjoy this episode and please subscribe to it as well.

I was reading an article from "The Blended Truth". They are a blended family organization founded by Brent and Lucy Howell. They wrote in this piece the difficulties of being in a blended family.

I have been having my own struggles of wanting to quit trying to build a relationship with my oldest bonus daughter.

After reading the Howell's wonderful piece: I could not quit.

Life as a bonus parent is not easy.

My hope is that one day my daughter will see that I love her and would very much enjoy having a realtionship. Until that day, I will keep praying.

Let’s get right to it. There are life events as a parent you want to be there for your kids.

  • Being born
  • First steps
  • Helping them ride a bike

There have been a couple of events that I wanted to be part of with my son but I got stiff armed from the former.

The former and her “SO” bought the boy a car. Then this week I was informed that the boy will need a suit because he is going to PROM!

I was told by the former that I needed to have the boy home by 1 this weekend so she could get him a suit. I told her that he and I will do it.

On this episode you will hear my thoughts about a missed opportunity or am I just taking this to far?

Still missing this guy.

I was watching HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel. On this episode there was an interview with David Feherty who is a former pro golfer but today has his own talk show as well as a golf commentator. A very funny man Feherty is but this episode was not about being funny.

Recently Feherty lost his son. As a dad I felt so much pain and emotions while watching this that I just had the water works.

Watching and hearing about this loss of life I just sat in bed crying and could not stop.

I call my depression "fog" but was it depression or was it just emotions from a couple of weekends ago?

On the last episode of the Blending The Family podcast I talked about spending time with my son Connor as well as the passing of our family dog Duke (pictured).

My thought is that I still had emotions inside of me that needed to come out and the story of Feherty and his family did just that, brought it out of me.

I mentioned on this episode three books that I want you to please read.

1.  David Goggins book.

2.Jesse Itzler book

3. Rick Warren
