Before we start, I need your help.
Today's podcast I wanted to talk to you about when the parenting agreement does not mention something like, when your kids can't come over because they are working.
I have not seen Connor since Easter. After Easter "my" weekend fell on Mother's Day. I am not able to see him this weekend because he has a new job.
In this episode, I want to offer three ideas, tips, or just advice on to still be there for your kids when you physically can not.
The organization I mentioned Lap Of Love is what we used for Duke. Here is their website: http://www.lapoflove.com/
Thank you for listening and I hope the podcast has brought you value.

"STOP AND HAVE FUN"
Before we get started:
ON WITH THE SHOW.
My guest this week is a very good friend of the family. Nate Harrison is the founder of the daycare "Mile High Adventures." Located in the Denver Colorado metro area:
http://www.milehighadvntrs.com/
About Nate:
"I've been working with children since 1995; most often as a child care provider, and in 2011 I decided to go private after feeling that so many programs were focused on something other than families and children.
I hold an elementary education degree in Colorado with a PE endorsement, won the State Pickleball Gold Medal in 2014 and 2015, am captain/coach of a men's ice hockey team at the Promenade (Four Championships and three 2nd place finishes in 9 seasons leading the team), and was PTA President at Ryan Elementary in Jefferson County from 2010-2012.
I've coached soccer, football, tennis, kayaking/canoeing, and hockey; am a rock climbing instructor for Westminster Rec, been a Girl Scout counselor (residential and day camp), the head instructor and run the snowboard department at SolVista Basin/Granby Ranch in Colorado for six seasons, and have worked in Indiana and Boston with children as a para, substitute teacher, and child care provider.
I have a 15 year old son who plays competitive hockey at Hyland Hills (MVP his second season; Captain in his 4th season), leading scorer for Standley Lake in his sophmore year - proud Dad moment, has won 5 state championships in flag football, (though he doesn't give enough credit to his handsome coach), plays lacrosse, and snowboards, wakesurfs, climbs, bikes, and pretty much plays any of the sports I do.
My guiding philosophy is having children being outside and active as much as possible. This helps them gain independence, see the playground of nature, and create lasting memories."
Nate and his son Gabe are HUGE Denver Bronco fans and I wanted to ask Nate right off the bat (no pun intended) how they are dealing with no sports.
I do have to mention that Nate is an avid Pickleball player and yes, we do mock him about the sport. Then Nate got me on my lack of being very good at Scrabble.
There are some great tips from Nate to help parents out with getting our kids active during these unusual times.
Nate does mention someone on the radio named "Stink," who is former NFL player Mark Schlereth heard on 104.3 The Fan in Denver.
Nate's son Gabe has been doing online schools for a few years and he offers up one key way to help our kids with getting through each school day.
Have an open and honest dialog with your kids was something that really stood out to me that Nate talked about.
We both agreed that our American school system is broken. Our hope is that schools will recognize this and make changes. If you want to contribute to Nate's cause after listen to this episode to start his own school PLEASE do so. His daycare is very cutting edge but also logical and a better way to teach kids.
Even Seth Godin thinks that our school system is in need of repair.

CO-PARENTING SIMPLIFIED
Welcome to this episode Michael David Daniels who is the founder and CEO of Fayr. He was on the show "Planet of the Apps" and because of that is backed by none other than Gwyneth Paltrow.
The website is Fayr.com and Michael was very kind to offer you a special 20 percent off the App. When you checkout use the code: blending to get the discount.
How did Michael come up with this App? Here is some of his story.
"As a separated father of two young children, Michael found himself overwhelmed by the legal, financial, and emotional costs of divorce on his family. After 20 years in the homebuilding industry, Michael hung up his hard hat to create a tool that would not just improve his family’s life, but would also help the other 55 million divorced co-parents in the US. Despite his success on the Apple tv show "Planet of the Apps" and partnering with Gwyneth Paltrow, Michael's guiding light remains the same: working every day to be his best self for his kids. "
You will as part of this episode:
Another App that could have saved me many sleepless nights when I was first divorced. I hope you do checkout Fayr and if you have a co-parent who is not willing to work with you this App can really help you. My favorite is the time stamping.
If you have an Echo Dot I might set it off so be ready. Not once but twice.

"You must give up the life you planned in order to have the life that is waiting for you"-Joseph Campbell
The quote from Joseph Campbell is the quote you will find on the Instagram bio page for my guest Joe Hawley. His story has really fascinated me. Here is a guy who played in the NFL and then retired to live in a van.
Before I keep going, please check out the story from USA Today Writer Tom Schad and his behind the scenes story of Joe.
I do not know where I found Joe Hawley and his sidekick "Freedom." I just love a good story as a storyteller myself. You can find Joe and Freedom on Instagram at Joe.Hawley
Way back in 2018, Joe retires from the NFL to sell off his worldly possessions, adopt Freedom, and get a van so they can travel the US. I told Joe during the interview that even my mom has heard of him and his story. That is scary.
Joe is one of the most positive people I have spoken with and his IG photos and videos are filled with gratitude.
We talk about where this idea came from. Growing up in Anaheim, California. Why he was so smart with his money and where he learned that skill. His love and my hate for mushrooms. How he got into baseball late in life.
Please support Joe and Freedom on their quest of living in a world of gratitude.
He just recently announced in his newsletter that he is currently writing a book and is putting a podcast together. I am looking forward to that.
I did have towards the end some technical issues but Joe was a real pro so I am letting you know.
Before I let you go I do have three asks:
