This week's guest is Estrella Rogers.
This episode is sponsored by my new book "My Dads Advice At 5:04 AM," and you can get it here or here.
Estrella is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Author, Speaker, and Relationship coach who
services couples locally and internationally. She earned her master's degree in Social
Work from East Carolina University.
Early in her career, Estrella realized that many couples wanted to make their marriage work but
were never taught, nor did they have the proper tools. This began her journey to becoming a
specialist in the field of couple's work. Estrella is aware that she herself cannot "save a
marriage," but it is her goal to ensure that couples have the tools and skills to achieve the
relationship they desire.
Wife and mother of two, Estrella recently published her first book "Prayers for My Husband."
and is a published writer for "Jacksonville Scene" and "Fearless Life" Magazines.
Estrella is also the co-founder and lead facilitator of Aspire Reaching Beyond the Obvious, a
non-profit youth mentoring program servicing youth ages 11-18 in Jacksonville NC.

Elise Buie, Esq. is a Seattle-based family and divorce lawyer and founder of the Elise Buie Family Law Group. A survivor of Hurricane Katrina, her divorce, and many dish-filled sinks piled high after lively family dinners with her husband, Doug, and their blended family of six (six!) teens and 20-somethings, Elise knows firsthand what it means to juggle work and parenting, finding balance in between, even if it means a lot of late nights. When she’s not advocating for her clients, the best interests of their children, and civility in divorce, you can find her sailing on Puget Sound.

PRE-ORDER: My Dad's Advice At 5:04 AM
https://blendingthefamily.com/products/
My guest is the Co-Founder of Fathering Together, Brian Anderson.
He has a new book titled "Fathering Together."
Fathering Together is not just a book title. It is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to empowering dads to be agents for positive change. This book is filled with personal narratives from our members and strategies based on their experiences as seen through the model of Servant Leadership created by Robert Greenleaf in the 1960s.
Greenleaf intended for his model to be used within business leadership, but its value translates to fatherhood perfectly. Therefore, I'm breaking the book into 3 parts.
In Part 1, "Exploring Who Dads Were and Who They Can Be," I outline how past models of fatherhood left so many dads incomplete and disconnected from their families. Then, I shift focus to highlight new models that are emerging and dads who are leading with relationships and emotional connections.
In Part 2, "Applying Tenets of Servant Leadership to Fatherhood," I break down Greenleaf's model with personal narratives and stories from my community to show how to shift your mindset and lean into emotional connection.
In Part 3, "The Power of Community," I illustrate how we build communities of support, accountability, and vulnerability that work toward equity. Through this model, we can acknowledge our challenges and create strategies for growth and success with our children.

Divorce Diaries Show Creator Michele Traina
This episode is sponsored by BLENDING THE FAMILY. Do you need general coaching or a professional speaker for your next event? Here is the link to get more information at Blending The Family. Now on with the episode.
If you do not ask the question, then the answer will always be no. I happened to be on Instagram when there was a notification that our guest Michele Traina was doing a live video. I jumped on because I've wanted her on the podcast ever since I started to follow her on IG.
I dropped a comment in her feed, and well, here we are.
Michele is someone that, if you get on her wrong side, then you won't be sleeping with the fishes, nope, you will be part of her comedy act. Just ask Police Officer Mike.
In this episode we talk about:
From Michele's bio:
Michele Traina is a performer, educator, and creator of multiple performance brands that carry a thread of healing through humor. She has toured around the country from Stand up to Shakespeare. Michele earned her Masters's in Educational Theatre from NYU and has her principal, supervisor, and theatre teacher certifications in the state of New Jersey. In 2013 she founded Propbox Players, a theatre company for young audiences geared towards inclusion and performance for diverse learners. She continued her one-woman show 'train' when she was getting divorced by putting her diary on the stage. Michele created Divorce Diaries in 2013, and it has evolved into a one-woman comedy show that laughs at life's beautiful mishaps.
A Jersey Native, Michele's work has a trademark accent and physicality to it, unlike anyone else. She's fiercely energetic and uses her own challenges in life to motivate and inspire her practice as an educator and performer. Why talking about suicide with my son was so important, even though it was difficult.
Debby Waldman was born and raised in Utica, New York. She has a journalism degree from Syracuse University and an MFA in creative writing from Cornell University. She has been a newspaper reporter, a college instructor, and a radio researcher. Since marrying her Canadian husband and moving to his hometown of Edmonton, Alberta, in 1992, she has raised two children and freelanced for publications and websites including The New York Times, the Washington Post, People, Parents, Publishers Weekly, and NBC-Think. She has also written a half dozen books for children and co-written two editions of a book for parents of children with hearing loss. As the daughter of a man who died by suicide and the mother of a son who wanted to, she is passionate about promoting suicide prevention and good mental health. You can find her sharing her articles and making snarky comments as DebbyJW1122 at Twitter and sharing photos of landscapes, baking, and her dog on Instagram at debojw60.
"Four years ago, our 20-year-old son was admitted to a psychiatric hospital after trying to kill himself. That night, my husband implied that I bore some of the blame."
“You kind of normalized suicide because you talked about your father all the time,” he said."

Wine is your friend. Choosing a wine is not going to be a mystery after this episode. Have I failed you yet? Do not answer that.
In this episode, we will finally do the show I have wanted to do for a LONG, LONG time.
Many years ago, my friend Zach recommended that my wife Ann and I sit down to work on our weekly budgets to have a bottle of wine.
Live in the home office; I sit down with a friend of the family, Bruce Gammill, who is the closes person to be a wine sommelier that I know. Bruce has worked in wine country at Beaulieu Vineyard. Whenever Bruce has suggested a wine (I am a red guy), he has never disappointed.
We talk about wine suggestions on first dates or cooking for someone new.
One of Bruce’s favorite wineries, and you really will not go wrong with it, is Cline. At the liquor store where Bruce spends most of his time, they recently did their weekly wine tasting of several different wines from Cline.
This episode was not just about wine but removing labels to describe kids. Bruce has been married and divorced two times. He talks about life lessons on raising kids in a blended family.
QUESTION!!! What wine do you buy for others??

What comes to your mind when you hear the word "walking"? What comes to your mind? Are you going for a walk? Are you taking your wing dog for a walk? Or are you emotionally "walking"?
Moving forward (see what I did there?), we will explore the concept of walking—both physically and metaphorically.
When I go to the dog park with Otis, I spend a lot of time thinking as I walk. I am trying to get away from Headphones and be in tune with the world.
Are you walking and listening to this episode?
There is no JOB worth sacrificing your mental health. I chose the above picture because it makes me smile and helps with my mental health.
Our family dog, "Otis," truly helps my mental health.
I hope this episode can help you with prioritizing your life.

Welcome to the Parenting Tip Tuesday episode but with a different twist.
I am not going to offer your coach parenting tips; instead, how to be better at being a husband for the men out there.
You will hear three suggestions, and if you want to tweak them, please go right ahead. The three are called:
1. Show Affection Towards Your Significant Other.
2. The Little Things
3. Date Night
I hope these help strengthen your relationships and create a stronger family bond.

There is no JOB worth sacrificing your mental health. I chose the above picture because it makes me smile and helps with my mental health.
Our family dog, "Otis," truly helps my mental health.
I hope this episode can help you with prioritizing your life.

"I'm A Stay-At-Home Dad Who Felt Like An Outsider At Playgroup. That Has To Change."
Today, my guest is Jay Deitcher, a stay-at-home dad who wrote an excellent article for the Huffington Post. After reading the article, I had to get Jay on the podcast.
Jay's Bio:
Jay Deitcher is a freelance writer, former social worker, a full-time stay-at-home dad from Albany, NY, whose work has been featured in The Washington Post, Esquire, New York Magazine, Wired, Shondaland, and others. Follow him on Twitter at @jaydeitcher.

Jay and I talk about what he is looking forward to as he is the first to hear the new last question. Who does Jay ask for help when he needs parenting tips. Since Jay is a writer, we go into his process, and I was shocked to hear how often he writes.
